car radio
that's what I got
voice of authority from here into empire state
car radio
car wash
fooling around just a minor on the interstate
car radio
all acting tough
I'm just a user I don't make any of this stuff

I'm surprised no one has posted about this song. Everyone who hasn't heard it should go try to listen to it. It's a really great driving at 2 AM kind of song.
Just a quick correction on the lyrics: "fooling around just a minor on the interstate" should be "out on a mission, just a minor on the interstate"
and, in my opinion, this song might be about the ultimate high-school road trip.
Pure adrenaline and it hits hard. I love the line "I'm just a user I don't make any of this stuff." Drug fueled car ride and an amazingly powerful song for how short it is on lyrics.
"I'm just a user I don't make any of this stuff." --> doesn't necessarily mean drug-fueled... i'm just a user of the car radio; i don't make any of the stuff they're playing.

all the songs on this album are powerful in spite of what the lyrics are. he could be saying absolute gibberish, but more than what he's saying, it's the way he says it. on this album in particular. this was the peak for me.

There's a strong sense of confidence in this song, whether britt's voice, the pace of the music, or the "WOO" or "ma ma ma"'s in the song. They recreate that feeling you get when it's just you and the road and you're blasting an amazing song and you're just pumped up, forgetting about any worries or problems you have in life. Nothing can ruin a moment like that, and all from a song that barely surpasses 90 seconds.
this song reminds me of roadrunner (by the modern lovers) same general idea except with new york instead of massachusetts. he's a kid, in a car, driving, with the radio on, everything is wonderful.
