Two Cars Lyrics

I try to scrape it off the thought of skin against skin
And move it from the front to back and started (go again)
But the depression and time breed and multipy
And I've got more mouths to feed than I could ever fit in this auto
You go have a good time
Bring back stories, because I will stay behind

So punch the clock, two months are up, and I am stuck down
Against the floor the heat rises out and leaves town
As the depression and time breed and multipy
Until i've got more mouths to feed than I could ever fit in this auto
So you go have a good time
Bring back stories, because I will stay behind

That's the story of a boy who tried to play it cool
But found it hard to keep it up when you were changing rules
And the depression and time breed and multipy
Until I've got more mouths to feed than I could ever fit in this auto
So you go have a good time
Bring back stories, because I will stay behind

sounds like a guy that knocked up a girl a couple of times and is stuck with a shitty job to provide for his family. meanwhile, all his friends and peers didnt fuck up and now they get to enjoy their fleeting youth while he's already stuck being a grown-up.

regret, regret, regret.
Edited by mellow_harsher on May 9 2007, at 08:52PM

there's a typo in the first verse, as well. or at least i think it's a typo it's "more mouths to feed than i could ever FIT in this song" not "...IT in this song".

i like the seals in the beginning of the song ... it sounds as if they are hungry and expect to be fed like this guy's children

other than that i agree with beastiality(what a nasty name)

haha the seals at the begining are the best! when i first heard this song i was like what the hell...

I agree the mouths to fees aren't kids, but the depression and how like a poor mother unable to feed her children, he's unable to give his festering emotions the attention they deserve, they're overwhelming.

I try to scrape it off the thought of skin against skin (forget about the sex)

And move it from the front to back and started (go again) (move the memory to the back of his mind)

You go have a good time Bring back stories 'cause I will stay behind (she's moved on and he's still wanting her)

So punch the clock, two months are up, and I am stuck down (depression becomes like a job, rudimentary, something he must partake in, and it's been 2 months since the breakup)

Against the floor the heat rises out and leaves town ( being at the lowest point possible used to bring on hot tears, but now just a hollow is left)

My Interpretation

I don't think he's referring to literal children -- I think the line "depression and time breed to multiply" is metaphorical, and that he has "more mouths to feed than [he] could ever fit in this song" refers more to the fact that he is unspeakably depressed after a long time.

i've always heard these lyrics differently to how they are printed here and I think these are wrong aswell as the ones for New Candles. I think it's "I give more mouths to feed than I could ever fit in.

This autumn; you go have a good time.
