Weight Of The World Lyrics

Love to be beside you, the way you smell,
The way your lips feel and your fingernails.
The way your fingers crawl up my spine,
The way you always make me the last in line.
I carry the weight of the world as the past is unfurled, but I won't stop to wonder.
Going through this life on my own made me as cold as a stone.
I'm a ship going under.
And I'd tell you this, but I don't know how.
I'm caving in and I'm falling out and I can't resist
And I can't rebound with the weight of the world as the world falls down.
It's the way you thrill me, then pull away.
The way you seem to kill me a little more each day.
And it's what you're thinking in your twisted mind
The way your body trembles when it's next to mine.
This pain I think about it everyday, it tells me I'm never gonna get away.
I know it's over, but I can't escape memories and how to face another day

Love this song! I agree it is so underrated! I think its about memories of a loved one. And remembering all the good and bad things they went through. Mabye a breakup, or a death. I think he is stuck in the past And He feels like the world is crashing around him.

I love this song! And it's definitely underrated.

As far as interpretation goes I think it's about being stuck in a loveless/one-sided relationship. I.e "the way you always make me the last in line" This girl (presumably) obviously doesn't think very much of him, maybe even detests him "trembling" or "pull[ing] away" when he tries to hug her (?). Also, the mention of "going through this life on my own" suggests that he's doing most of the work in this relationship. But also, he seems to be developing the same feelings for her, with "twisted mind" and the fact she's "kill[ing] [him] a little more each day" Basically this horrendous relationship is falling apart around him and he has no idea what to do about it.

But that's just my opinion, feel free to disagree :)

My Interpretation

I think it might be about him going to see a prostitute, especially the reference to being made last in line (as if she reserves a spot for him as a 'special customer'), and he's dealing with being addicted to this and to her, and probably also being in love with her or at least having feelings with her, but also hating their interaction and what it's doing to him, and how alone he feels given that this is the only way he can find 'intimacy'.
