Testing The Strong Ones Lyrics
There's an angel by your hospital bed
Desperate to hear his name on your breath
As he looks down you're not making a sound
Open your eyes look at me
I'll bring to you whatever you need
And I'll tell you I'm sorry
That I can't take this pain away from you
And I'd put it on my own body if I knew how to
Can't you see?
I've gotta bust you outta here somehow
I've never seen your heart this tired
I've never seen your spirit held down
I know that you say
This is what you get
For being a bad child
But I know this will be your reward
In just a little while
In just a little while
Its testing the strong ones
Scarring the beautiful ones
It's holding the loved ones
One last time
Its testing the strong ones
(testing the strong ones)
Its scarring the beautiful ones
(staring the beautiful ones)
Its holding the loved ones
One last time
Its testing the strong ones
(testing the strong ones)
Its scarring the beautiful ones

no, this song is about his cat, who got run over by a semi last year, and his grandmother, who drowned in a puddle, and his girlfriend, who slit her wrists with a butter knife.
honestly, i don't think it matters to find out why the artist wrote the song...i think it's more important to find out what the song itself is about. this song has always meant (at least to me) that you need to realize that God tests you...and when you make it through, you realize that you have the best reward ever: heaven. :)

Actually, The entire album was written about Aarons girlfriend who was in a car crash. Im not sure if she was killed but I do know that she was in a coma for a long time. Thats why a lot of the songs are about being in Hospitals and Angels.

and possibly their spirituality.
actually, the ENTIRE album was NOT written about aaron's girlfriend, who was also NOT in a car crash. she has lupus, but is still very much alive.
He talked about his loss and relationships in 2005 when I saw them once. Anyway though, regardless of what the song meant to HIM, it can take on varying meanings. It is a form of art, and does not have one true meaning. Personally, I have always viewed this song from a self-help perspective. I was in the hospital for 6 months back in 2004 and it kept me alive...literally. I felt that I was being tested every day, and had ongoing battles in my mind of what my life wanted to be. I was in the hospital for 6 months back in 2004 and it kept me alive...literally. I felt that I was being tested every day, and had ongoing battles in my mind of what my life wanted to be. I wanted to be able to hold my loved ones and vice versa. I felt so much regret for so much, but you just have to remember that life is what you make it. Nothing, NOTHING is set in stone. You hold the key to your future and to your past.
Moral of the story: This meant different things to me than it did to him, and different things to you all as well. Just sharing. :) Always keep an open mind.
My 2 cents for the day.
haha in any case copeland is so wonderful
