And to add to cyanide's interpretation, which I believe is true, being with a lover has a way of sucking into the elements of their world. Back when I was naive I didn't realize that such things such as luck and fate. I used to think when you have a relationship with someone you are merely two people getting together.

Now I can feel when I connect with someone I take a part of their world as well. I can see elements of bad or good karma recurring in their lives and how their environment is. It is something you can never see with your two plain eyes, but know that when you form a deepening relationship with a person, the seperate world's you both have lived in start to intertwine.

May be referring to Moana Pozzi... an Italian "adult film" actress who got her start in the 80's (she died in '94).

She also did appearances on TV, in the show Matrjoska by Antonio Ricci, she used to come on stage completely naked or just wrapped in a transparent plastic veil - causing some controversy.

The lyrics seem to tie into this.... maybe! Chino is a cryptic song writer, so you never know. A beautiful song no matter how we perceive it.

It struck me due to the band using images from the "adult film" Roxanna (early 70's) for the cover art of Saturday Night Wrist...

i read on a deftones' fan site that this song is another spacey story by chino, i think Moana is the name of some foreign entertainer he come upon and grew fixated with. just another amazing song about the praise of female entertainer and the way that a beautiful singer or actress always has way of enveloping you in her preformance. i think.

It's about being infatuated with someone, and they're no good for you. You stop caring about the right things in life for this person and slowly become just as bad them.

I picture a music video with Chino sitting, watching a pale herion-addict type girl dance on stage. She's dancing for him only, like a private lap dance. While she's dancing, and as the video progresses, Chino starts looking older, and pale. Eventually the building they're in starts burning down, but Chino just keeps his eyes on the girl. Meanwhile, the whole time this is going on, the "Good Chino" is performing the song while looking on through and two-way mirror in dissapointment. The whole is there too, of course.

'I bet she carves your heart' says it all i reckon. you got the painful connatation (i.e. stabbing, marking your heart) and the kind of simple idealistic picture of love like carving your names in a tree or somethin'. I agree that there's a lot of niavity in the song. Why has this song only got 4 posts?!

I love this song! The way Chino sings it, is beautiful. I agree with muchthanmore, that line 'I bet she carves your heart' is awesome. I imagine the girl teasing him and hurting him because he wants her, but he knows it's wrong to follow along with her.

This is a great song, and i dont know why there aren't more posts on it , but if I produced the video for this song the main shots would be a love scene and while chino says "whats your taste" the guy in the scene would be kissing the female, and her lips would be in focus, as the song moves on to when he says "Your Place Show Me" the guy would be moving his hands down the womens body toward her "place" and he would begin to make love to her. as he finishes and chino says " Your face" The guy takes a long deep look into the girls eyes and the camera would be focusing on her face as she looks back at him in complete satisfaction. well thats if i produced the video im out.

Workin off your video...lets say ame situation except the guy can't touch her...he's watching her from a distance playin with rosey palmer...perhaps spying or on tv....she s completly calm and seductive in her beauty while he is utterly infatuated and desperate to have her tast. He's getting no physical satisfaction...

yet when chino sings (Somehow calm as she walks offstage An entire empire recall your face...your face...show me...come )it is so soothing...that he is getting satisfactiion by just watching her....

then when he sings (Let me know what you're like...let me... know what you're like... Your face...your face...) its complete frustration ...he wants desperatly to satisfy her like she satisfys him

so to me the song is infatuation complete and utter infatuation....just knowing she exists is satisfying...but the beautiful things we would destroy to be part of her. kinda of like how I'm infatuated with deftones...I wanna know what your like...I want to be much than more

It's pretty blatant, though I think it can apply to almost anyone female who captivates you. Gives you a feeling of fixated fascination, mesmerizes you with her distinct movement, that hypnotizing appearance, and that certain sound...that sends you into a spellbound state, transfixing your mind, rhapsodic perplexity...
