All That's Left Lyrics

one day the dreamers died within us
when all our answers never came
we hid the truth beneath our skin but
our shadows never looked the same

a ghost is all that's left
of everything we swore we never would forget
we tried to bleed the sickness
but we drained our hearts instead
we are the dead

and when we couldn't stop the bleeding
we held our hearts over the flame
we couldn't help but call it treason
after that we couldn't fill our frames
after that our shadows never looked the same

in summers past we'd challenge fate
with higher pitch and perfect aim
and standing fast, we'd radiate
a light we loved but never named
but the answers never came
and our shadows never looked the same

a ghost is all that's left
of everything we swore we never would forget
we tried to bleed the sickness
but we drained our hearts instead
we are the dead
a ghost of everything we thought but never said
we tried to bleed the sickness
but we drained our hearts instead

we are the ones who lost our faith
we dug ourselves an early grave
we are the dead, can we be saved?

i hate this song by thrice....i can't believe that they started playing this one on the radio first. They should have started out with some older stuff like Torch to end all Torches, T&C, To What End, or Identity Crisis, those are all great songs. I have been listening to Thrice for about a year now and (in my opinion) this song doesnt compare to their older stuff.

with any band newer stuff NEVER compares to old stuff when the band is out just doing what they want

SumGuy, it wouldn't make sense for Thrice to market material from a CD that was released 2 years ago. In fact, I wouldn't believe their current record label would have the rights to market their old material, so obviously, their new CD on Island records gets the publicity.

Not their best, but still an awesome song.

Has Dustin lost faith in God?

Am I the only one who likes Thrice just as much as I used to? I think the change is good, but I agree with SumGuy, if they wanted to put something on the radio, they should've put an oldeer song first. But on a more related note, despite the fact that Thrice is christian (not christian rock, thats just their beleifs) i tihnk this song is about findiind out that god doesnt exist. Or maybe its about how dreams die within us, and we lose all faith in the things we love. I know I've been there before. Well this is still a damn good song, and I dont care what you people say.

No one understands that although Dustin MAY be Christian, he doesn't write songs because he believes in god. If you read a biography on him you should know that he reads a ton, and one of his favorites is the bible so he is influenced by that piece of literature.

ENDER Please send me a link on where to get that biography!!

I know that. Many of his songs reflect on things he read.

ChancingTomorrow, its not that i wanted them to market their older stuff right now. WHat i meant was they should have started playing their older stuff when they first came out with it (2 years ago). So thus, it would be abel to be marketed on their old record label, not their new one whether it being some city known label or being a big corporate label. Either way (in my opinion) Thrice would be liked a lot more if they started out playing their stuff on the radio 2 years ago
