In the Cold, Cold Night Lyrics
I saw you standing in the corner
On the edge of a burning light
I saw you standing in the corner
Come to me again in the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
You make me feel a little older
Like a full grown woman might
But when you're gone I grow colder
Come to me again in The cold, cold, night
In The cold, cold, night
I hear you walking by my front door
I hear the creaking of the kitchen floor
I don't care what other people say
I'm goin' to love you, anyway
Come to me again in the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
I can't stand it any longer
I need the fuel to make my fire bright
So don't fight it any longer
Come to me again in the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
And I know that you feel it too
When my skin turns into glue
You will know that it's warm inside
And you'll come run to me, in the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
On the edge of a burning light
I saw you standing in the corner
Come to me again in the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
You make me feel a little older
Like a full grown woman might
But when you're gone I grow colder
Come to me again in The cold, cold, night
In The cold, cold, night
I hear you walking by my front door
I hear the creaking of the kitchen floor
I don't care what other people say
I'm goin' to love you, anyway
Come to me again in the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
I can't stand it any longer
I need the fuel to make my fire bright
So don't fight it any longer
Come to me again in the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
And I know that you feel it too
When my skin turns into glue
You will know that it's warm inside
And you'll come run to me, in the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night
In the cold, cold night

No, Meg's not that great of a singer, but this song doesn't require an amazing singer to be good. Meg does a great job with it, on the album and at concerts.
Anyway, I don't think this song is about death, I think it's about a woman who is in love with a man who other people say is bad, or who doesn't love her.
This song is obviously about her love for an older (possibly) man who other people don't exactly like ("I don't care what other people say. . . I'm gonna love you anyway").
I like her voice. . . it's not the greatest, but it's very cool and smooth.
Meg should come out with a solo album.
Ahhh, I love this song! Meg's voice is perfect for it, just PERFECT!
I think the song is about loving a man who other people don't approve of (I don't care what other people say/I'm goin' to love you anyway), and who doesn't yet admit to himself what he feels for her (I can't stand it any longer/I need fuel to make my fire bright/So don't fight it any longer...), but still comes to her in 'the cold cold night'
But I might be talking DRIVEL!
aww give her credit... we finally hear meg :) i like it!!! i think her voice is very very 70's sounding... its nice!
Meg's voice is alright... I liek the way she sings her words and how she inflects." I saw her standing in a corner, on the edge of a burning li-eet"..phrasing.. it makes it more swanky and cool.
This song just makes me think of the brother/sister thing Meg and Jack kind of have. So, yeah, makes me think of incest, like surprisingly many of their songs... I don't know, maybe it's just me. But Jack has said that on every album there are a couple songs that are basically just inside jokes between him and Meg, and... this sibling thing certainly is an inside joke of theirs.
Interesting lyrics with a weirdly sexy vocal performance from Meg White.
I love megs voice its very cool etheral quality to it. I mean can any of you sing any better? I will admit i cant ha i like this song its like jazzy bluesy hippie beatnick style you know.
I like Megs voice too. Its soft, smooth, and a bit bluesy, in my opinion. I think she could do better, but shes got potential, and thats what matters. A bit of voice training is all she needs, you know, to make it a bit more powerful. I cant wait to hear new Meg tracks ;)
