seems like a heartbreakingly honest look at a relationship that wasn't exactly all it claimed to be
Ouuuu what a good song. Definitely one of my all-time favorites. The words are good, but the tune and the riffs are just so great.
This song strikes a huge chord in me. I was once in this relationship where the games of manipulation played on me by this girl were tearing me apart, she would openly talk about wanting to meet other guys and sleep with them just to make me feel jelous, defeated and a failure to her. I tried to walk away from the relationship a few times but Im ashamed to say that there was this sick and blind attraction which seemed to bring me back to her each time ("still I will take a car to be with you"). Anyway when I finally woke up I was thinking 'What does this girl really mean to me and the answer was nothing ("I dont love you"), I didnt feel the need to fight for her ("why should I compete with other guys")' and after I dumped her I felt bloody great too ("I dont miss you"). One of the last things she said to me was I know you better than you know me you always come back to me ("of course you think you know me, know me").......I never went back to her.....good ridence!!
I have always thought that this song was about falling for someone that you didn't want to fall for. The major song Yorn writes like he is trying to convince himself that you doesn't care for them and by lying to himself. That's what I think anyway
I once took the long way down. I knew my girlfriend who had already cheated on me was going to break up with me at dinner. So I deleted her number from my phone in front of her. She was surprised & unhappy that I did that. I was saying “I thought this was the end & we are done.” Iwhy should I compete with other guys? I think I’ll take the long way down by myself.
