I Can't Believe Lyrics
Chastity
What a virtue to be stolen
Tragedy
Has forsaken into fake
Blasphemy
Shadow stripped me of my reason
Misery
Comes to bed with me tonight
What am I gonna do
And now I can't believe
You let this happen to me
And I can't believe
They put those daggers through me
And I can't believe
You didn't come to save me from my pain
Laughed at me
They hit my face and clutched my rosary
Humility
A lesson best just left alone
Heresy
Because I'm two inside my body
Irony
A child of love from a man I hate
Until my dying day
And now I can't believe
You let this happen to me
And I can't believe
They put those daggers through me
And I can't believe
You didn't come to save me from my pain
And now I can't believe
You let this happen to me
And I can't believe
They put those daggers through me
And I can't believe
You didn't come to save me from my pain
What a virtue to be stolen

what I can't believe is that no one is posting their comments to this song, I am a big slipknot and stone sour fan and I must admit, this shows a lot of talent, shows u that corey taylor can do more then just scream (according to some people). this is definately one of my favourite stone sours songs even though it is around 10 years old now
This song is about a Nun who is raped as has a child from a rapist.
"Chastity, what a virtue to be stolen" "Shadow stripped me of my reason"
She was pure, she lived for god, yet a dark force takes her virginity away, she technically lost her reason.
Chastity is a sexual term, and her pureness was stolen from her.
"Misery comes to bed with me tonight"
She exclaims to god, the one she lived for, in the chorus,
"I can't believe you let this happen to me" "I can't believe you didn't come and save me from my pain"
Pretty self explanatory.
"They ripped me of my rosary" "Because I'm two inside my body" -(The unborn Child) "A child of love from a man I hate" Her child was from a rapist, the term rapist has a sense of being "Evil" Evil=devil. The one she hates forced her to have a child.
Anyway that is my take on the song, but yes a badass one.

I am with my plague47 on this one its a great song and should be shown respect. Judging from Coreys voice he was alot younger when he recorded this song and still kicked ass on this song.
I think this song is about Coreys hate for his dad that was never there for him and how he can't believe he just left him like that, thats fucked up.
I love this song. Even though its old its just so emotional. Love it
I agree with theinhale227. I think this song is about a religious person who was raped, and now she is questioning her faith.
"Chastity, what a virtue to be stolen" Her virginity was stolen. "Blasphemy, shadow stripped me of my reason" She committed blasphemy but had no choice. "I can't believe you let this happen to me" She's angry at god for letting this happen. "A child of love from a man I hate, until my dying day" She now has an unborn child whose father is a rapist, and she'll have to live that for the rest of her life.
I can agree with theinhale227 until the chorus. Corey Taylor says "They put those daggers through me" where he obviously refers to an entity and not just one person/incident. The focus of the song, in my opinion, is the impact experienced while living in modern society and not just one tragedy.
There is an obvious progression throughout the song to focus onto -- either Corey's adolescence and/or his religious maturation become afflicted. Just listen to the tone of the song as it grows from being peaceful and soothing to heavy and aggravated. This could reflect upon a child who grows innocence to darkness.
He's explaining a certain struggle/conflict in his life, which I believe to be society. Contemporary or western society has evolved to exist in opposition to common religious belief, and I feel that Corey has written this song after experiencing the repercussions of the American society (religious persecution, peer pressure, unlawful fathers, the demise of humility, etc). He wants the audience to feel the tragic emotions one conveys throughout a modern adolescence.
Specifically, listen to his tone of voice when he sings, "Heresy. Because I'm two inside my body". He heightens that phrase with a sarcastic tone to present his disbelief in God, religion, and the holy spirit after feeling betrayed by his previous beliefs in spirituality. That segment, I believe, can summarize the entire song and Corey's meaning to the lyrics.
