Breathe No More Lyrics

I've been looking in the mirror for so long.
That I've come to believe my souls on the other side.
Oh the little pieces falling, shatter.
Shards of me,
To sharp to put back together.
To small to matter,
But big enough to cut me into so many little pieces.
If I try to touch her,
And I bleed,
I bleed,
And I breathe,
I breathe no more.

Take a breath and I try to draw from my spirits well.
Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child.
Lie to me,
Convince me that I've been sick forever.
And all of this,
Will make sense when I get better.
I know the difference,
Between myself and my reflection.
I just can't help but to wonder,
Which of us do you love.

So I bleed,
I bleed,
And I breathe,
I breathe now...
Bleed,
I bleed,
And I breathe,
I breathe,
I breathe-
I breathe no more.

Have you ever looked in the mirror for so long you've began to see a different person? Now, I'm probably wrong but I think this song is about someone who doesn't feel accepted by anyone, and misunderstood and by lookin in the mirror they see someone the world accepts so figuratively, they kill that person by smashing the mirror, but by doin so it doesn't just 'kill' their reflection but it also hurts them. "Take a breath and I try to draw from my spirits well. Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child. Lie to me, Convince me that I've been sick forever. And all of this, Will make sense when I get better." That part I think means, the persons trying to get people to understand how they feel but the world is so stubborn they won't absorb it... and they just tell them that "its okay, you'll get help one day" like their crazy and they don't know what they're talkin about. Who knows though. :x

I'm pretty much glued to the mirror. Where I live, it's the only way to talk to another human being. XD

in my opinion. this song is about a girl being in a relationship. shes in a relationship with a guy who is only in love with her beauty and not personality. hence the line "i cant help but wonder, which of us do you love" and she had been caught up in how the media portrays "beautiful" with all this makeup and glamour. and she finally came to realize that her boyfriend was only in love with her beauty and not her mind. and shes feeling like nobody knows the real her. they only know wat the mirror portrays. so she smashes the mirror and then with part of the mirror she cuts herself and she bleeds and bleeds until she bleeds no more.

"I know the difference, Between myself and my reflection. I just can't help but to wonder, Which of us do you love." This part makes me think about maybe your in a relationship and you start to wonder what that person likes you for...your personality or your reflection. This doesnt seem to fit in all the lyrics...

I think is song is about depression, and being something that you never thought you'd become.

I don't feel like typing out a long expination unless someone would liek to hear it.

I know this was like 6 years ago... But would you tell me what you think it means?

Wrong lyrics again. Grr. Okay, the "Oh the little pieces falling, shatter" should be "All the little pieces falling, shattered"; and "I just can't help but to wonder" should be "It causes me to wonder". I know, I know, I'm nitpicking again =). Forgive me?

To me, the song's about being in a relationship where you're loved for your beauty instead of yourself. You've been around this shallow love for so long, you begin to feel like maybe all you are is a pretty face. You break the mirror to find the truth and feel as though you're losing yourself along with the shards. Trying to put yourself back together, you cut yourself, again and again, bleeding so much that you stop breathing. Somehow, you force yourself to breathe again, but nobody understands what you've gone through. They're trying to tell you what's wrong instead of listening to what you're saying. Even after what you've gone through, after you've discovered the difference between yourself and how you look, you still think people only love you for your reflection. You're still simply a pretty thing for people to look at.

Hmm. Lol, I think I confused myself while I wrote that...

No it made sense. The mirror breaking can be taken figuratively. Shattering what you think you know, breaking free of it, and falling apart "bleeding" from the shock of it all.

I had a breakdown a number of years ago triggered by a man who liked me for my looks not for me. I had to shatter a lot of the damage he did to me, and another man came along with the same intentions. I literally shattered, nearly committed suicide, but I was bleeding inside for the person I was, before all this happened to me. I...

You guys are totally on the dot with what I believe. I think she is looking in the mirror and she has changed as a person, yet the reflection she sees hasn't. It possibly reminds her of a past. Or maybe she doesn't feel like she knows herself at all.

Amy Lee uses some really powerful analogies. It's just something that totally mesmerizes me and it gives me chills.

Particularly this partial stanza:

"But big enough to cut me into so many little pieces. If I try to touch her, And I bleed, I bleed,"

She's reaching for the broken glasses of herself and all she will do is get cut. I really believe now that Amy is looking into the mirror and seeing a part of her she doesn't ever want to be.

"I know the difference, Between myself and my reflection. I just can't help but to wonder, Which of us do you love. "

And now she is seperating herself in two. And each of her parts is so different from each other. They are polar opposites. So which one is to be accepted?

I'm willing to take this one step further. That while this song seems to have an open ending I think there is possibly an underlying message she is trying to take across. That to accept yourself as a whole no matter the extremes you will go to.

But the thing about Amy (which I love) is that she rights about situations without any particular answer. It really makes you think about the possibilities and something you can relate to for your special self. Man, Evanescence is just the bomb. I don't know why they have some haters.

It means that she isn't sure anymore. She's looking into a mirror, finding someone who isn't her but is.She's asking which of us do you love, because she's hiding in the person she is no longer...Do we love the person she's become?
