I think this song is basically about abortion, and everything that person could have become if their mother had made the decision to keep them. So sad, really.

I agree with kateh, this song is obviously about abortion and the feeling of guilt afterwards. the singer is basically looking back thinking about all the things that the child missed out on, like their first kiss. Incredibly moving and emotional song.

I think it's the father singing the song, telling the child that he's "sorry that youre gone I hope youre in a better place where your heart doesnt ache" and that if it ahd been born he'd hve lovedit and unlike its mother he did want it.
