Except for the last verse, where it says "Baby", nothing in the song implies necessarily that it is a heartache. It could be about anything threatening, like a bad job, a obnoxius boss, an illness, depression, an addiction, etc. Of course, the sense of the song fits better with a person (people don't go around talking to things), but it can be applied to anything you want your head away from.
this song reminds me of elvis and cream. the meaning is obvious, which is about a girl breaking his heart and messin up his life. i think this is one of the most underrated bands of the 60s adn 70s
