Green Disease Lyrics

(see a green disease, a)
(green disease, a)
(green disease)
it's a disease and they're all green
it emanates from their being
a satiation with occupation
and like weeds with big leaves
stealing light from what's beneath
where they have more
still they take more
i know, then i don't
there's a stow-away with my throat
it's deceiving, i don't believe him
we can scream out our doors
behind the wall, a fat man snores
in his dreams, he's choking ti leaves
well i guess there's nothing wrong with what you say
but don't sell me, "there can't be better ways"
tell the captain, "the boat's not safe, we're drowning"
turns out he's the one making waves, waves, waves...
well i said there's nothing wrong with what you say
believe me, i'm just asking you to sway
no white or black, just grey
can you feel this world with your heart and not your brain?
brain...
see a green disease, a
grean disease, a...

This song seems to represent the ignorance and greediness of humanity itself. "Fat man snores..." and "where they have more still they take more" realle emphasize how the majority of humanity needs to prioritize and stop wasting their time with greed. This song is an eye opener of society.

I heard that he was saying G-R-E-E-D at the beginning and end of the song. I can't tell which is right, G-R-E-E-D or see a green disease. Hooray for my terrible hearing. Whichever it is, this is a good song. Doesn't anyone else like it?

"it's a disease and they're all green it emanates from their being a satiation with occupation " - Really think those lines are such nonsense..........

"Where they have more, still they take more." I think of some very greedy wealthy people. Some people who have tons still will steal from other people to make more. "Tell the Captain the boat's not safe, we're drowning, turns out he's the one making waves, waves." I think of Ken Lay and his buddies at Enron and how he assured the employees of Enron that the company was doing fine, knowing full well he and his buddies were raping the company and employees of millions.

well i think the captain, that must be mr. bush himself. as president of the usa, he's the captain of a boat called planet earth. so this boat not save, we're drowning means in 40 -50 years we cannot live here anymore because mr bush is making waves now. that's my interpretation.

just cause he's the president of the USA does NOT make him the captain of the worl. captai of America yes, but not captain of the worls. In reality, America does not actually have THAT much influence.

I think the song is pretty straight-forward.

An interprutation relating to greed, wealth and power does seem to fit. However, what I would like to know is what does he mean by a "green disease"? Maybe because bank notes are often green or depicted as being green, the green disease is a lust for money? I don't know.

No Code, yeah, green refers to money.

Aside from being your typical, straight-forward anti-capitalism song, I really liked the part: "well i guess there's nothing wrong with what you say but don't sell me, 'there can't be better ways'" Here it seems as if the speaker is conceding that capitalism MAKES SENSE. But that, there could be another system even better (which is probable). So he may just be criticizing the greed and lust for power that capitalism may engender, but is nonetheless stating that it may be very well the best we can do right now. Man, much better than many "South American rockers"* who are still against globalization, privatization and so forth.

  • By that I refer to Los Prisioneros, RATM and the like.
