Welcome to the Universe Lyrics
And so the time has come, it's here
The silence ends, change is near
You wait in the palid slivered sky
Come into the pantheon
Welcome to the universe
Welcome to the universe
If there's a past into the clear
We better take the pace
Erase this face
In constant search for everything
You wait in the palid slivered sky
Come into the pantheon
Welcome to the universe
Welcome to the universe
Welcome to the universe
Welcome to the universe
A new day has begun
The silence ends, change is near
You wait in the palid slivered sky
Come into the pantheon
Welcome to the universe
We better take the pace
Erase this face
In constant search for everything
Come into the pantheon
Welcome to the universe
Welcome to the universe
Welcome to the universe

Love this song
change is coming...get used to it
I love this band.
ok rdy for something someone has to live to get....
rather we are everything or nothing were something or nothing smart or dumb right or wrong
we can never know, and this post is rather everything or nothing...we were brought up with knowledge or brought up with anything but. no one can ever tell us, nothing can show us. Belief is glorious or it is a crutch. When you fail you rather understand that you failed or failing is a mean/end to nothing.
I am not justifying a given religion nor am i justifying a agnostic point of view, i just think this song is asking the question. Is one better thinking there point of view matters or is one better realizing it is nothing?
end result to this song is exactly "?"
"the silence ends; change is near;"
"a new day has begun;"
i doubt the song is asking much of a question. ;|
Pantheon: Temple dedicated to all gods of a certain religeon.
Cool song, I wish it was longer. BTW, did anyone notice that the phrase "welcome to the universe" is at the very end of Year Zero... which is at the very end of the album...
in fact
Pantheon: cemetery
It's about mankind making its first ventures in to space. Even though it seems like we've been at it for a while, space travel and astronomy with instruments that aren't Earth-based are still in their early stages.
When we study deep space, we have no idea what could be out there, because we've only scratched the surface. Thus, the observers have to pick through every single thing, because something previously unknown could go undiscovered just because they didn't know to keep an eye out for it. Thus, people who study space are "in constant search for everything." (And that is my favorite line in the song!)
The point is that we need to get used to the idea that we are no longer truly "Earthlings." Now that we've taken the plunge, the events that will let us go, or even live, anywhere, have been set in to motion. With these first steps in to space, we have claimed our place as citizens of the universe as a whole.
This is probably my favorite 30 Seconds to Mars song. The sound and atmosphere are great, the imagery is stunning, and, being a space nerd ever since I learned to read at age three, the meaning I see in it really enthralls me.
So you wrote that comment like 3 years ago but I still feel compelled to say I disagree. :P

It's a coming of age song, its about deciding who you want to be when you enter into the world. Your time of sitting back and doing nothing has ended, its time to take charge of your life, and be who you are set out to be. I'm not sure the lyrics are palid silvered sky (are they confirmed?) I hear "balance libertine" (I have all 3 cds, and 30stm lists none of their lyrics >.<) as...

I hear "balance libertine" (I have all 3 cds, and 30stm lists none of their lyrics >.<) as stated, the Greek Pantheon was a religious temple, and a meeting place of sorts. So I think they're saying come join the rest of the world, but don't lose yourself in it. People are searching for something to fulfill them, they try different ways, and some have luck in finding fulfillment while some don't. Welcome to the Universe. A welcoming of sorts. The universe not to be taken literally as space, but more of society as a whole; all its different communities and sects.
Great song <3
The perception of what someone believes a song means is always interesting.
Pantheon is also known as being the home of the gods of a particular faith.
