Anenome Lyrics

i
i think i know how i feel
cause i
i only play it for-real
you should be picking me up
instead you're dragging me down
flying over my head
you're landing all over town

you
you know that i try
try to tell you the truth
oh baby don't make me cry
you should be picking me up
instead you're dragging me down
now i'm missing you more
cause baby you're not around
now that you're not around

i
i want to know how it feels
cause i
i only play it for-real
you should be picking me up
instead your dragging me down
i could be giving you love
but you're not around
now that you're not around
now that you're not around
glad that you're not around.

I can totally relate to this song. Faling in love meeting my soulmate, my twin flame, who turned out to be abusive. Well he threatened my life and now I am raising his baby alone with no family while he is in prison because he tried to kill me and attacked me. Before he was locked up he would always just come up with craziest off the wall untrue shit when we were arguing and try to accuse me of not knowing what was real and who I was: (I, i think i know how i feel cause i i only play it for-real you should be picking me up instead you're dragging me down flying over my head you're landing all over town) (coming up with crazy lies)

And despite what a fucking asshole jerk he was to me, I still love him and miss him because I was tricked. I thought he was my soulmate.

if you guys only know the version with the female singer (like on the teppid peppermint... and also on their satanic majesties...)then look for another one with anton on vocals himself...its pretty much the same but the voice sounds better i think and the guitars a slightly different.....dont even know where i got that one,but it was the first bjm song i heard and i was like who the fucks that.from that day on i listened to almost nothing else for about a year...fuckin great song....

I hate it when people get it wrong, yes the correct spelling is aneMoNe but the song is titled aneNoMe. It's a play on words. Anenome / An enemy. You don't have to interpret that too much, it's pretty clear how "an enemy" applies to the lyrics.

Heard this song live at Austin Psych Fest 2014. It was sick

@PatMC I heard it at a free show in the Twin Cities back around '06. Anton didn't disappoint.

@PatMC But the girl he picked to play tambourine did.

i think the title subliminally says implies 'an enemy' in the form of the backwards way of sayind sea anemone. creative. this poerson is bringing her down obvio9usly and she knows it and percieves them as an enemy. but its hurting her at the same time bc hes not there to do anything about it

This song is so beautiful... I think the comments on him singing it are especially interesting. Personally, I prefer the female singer version, because it's like she's kind of teasing him and he's playing back with the guitar lines. Both are great, though. Cool that it makes sense from a male and female perspective.

I think that it's called "Anemone" because an anemone is poisonous to all but the creatures that can inhabit it, and that, added to the song, makes a lot of sense.

I can't say I've never been there before...
