Fortunate Son (CCR cover) Lyrics
Some folks are born, made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they're red white and blue,
But when the band plays hail to the chief,
They point the cannon at you, lord.
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Some folks are inherit a silver spoon in hand,
Lord, don't they help themselves,
But when the taxman comes back in the door,
The house looks like a rummage sale, no.
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
Oh, they send you down to war,
But when you ask them,
"How much should we give?"
They only answer more, more, more!
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, look out!
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son
Ooh, they're red white and blue,
But when the band plays hail to the chief,
They point the cannon at you, lord.
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Lord, don't they help themselves,
But when the taxman comes back in the door,
The house looks like a rummage sale, no.
I ain't no millionaire's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no

Oh, they send you down to war,
But when you ask them,

I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, look out!
I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
I ain't no fortunate one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son

This is a great cover of a great song by Credence Clearwater. I think it's about people that say they are all patriotic and stuff, but when it comes to it they were just born into the highclass and they don't know much about being patriotic at all.
does anyone have this song, i cant find it anywhere. what cd is it on? msg me
This song is about the draft, and the injustice that went on during Vietnam with the draft. People could avoid being drafted if they were in a family of high enough status.
This song is on the Live on St. Patrick's Day CD, and I believe it's on The Singles Collection, Vol. 2 but I could be wrong.
Great cover the 1 half of a percent of me thats Irish really likes these guys.
