This song was about an ex-boyfriend of mine who was not very nice and threatened to kill me. I was very upset about this situation for a long time and writing this song was the only thing that gave me temporary relief from the problem. I then, realized that he wouldn't ever REALLY do anything and that I could "break out of my chains."
