It's Hard To Turn Me On Lyrics
You turn me on
and it's hard to turn me on
You turn me on
and it's hard to turn me on
Mornings I tell you what I dreamed
Before we're swallowed by the work machine,
And spit out in the evening drained half dry.
And that is why
You turn me on
and it's hard to turn me on.
We traveled many miles to no guarantee
Everything's a joke to you; it's not that way to me.
And Walt Disney cannot make me happy,
cannot make me go along
But you turn me on
and it's hard to turn me on.
This is definitely not about Elliott. Elliott turns Coomes on? That doesn't even make sense. Obviously it's about a romantic relationship.
Anyone who wants to read Coomes' comment on obsessed Elliott fans only interested in him because of his association with ES should read his interview in Autumn de Wilde's picture book. Pretty funny
Is it possible they're talking about Elliott Smith's point of view, here? "I tell you what I dreamed"- in the song "Don't Go Down" by Elliott, for example he says "She Had a dream, woke up in shock..." And of course they were all "swallowed by the work machine" together. They went on tours together, "We traveled many miles to no guarantee." And perhaps they feel that nothing makes Elliott happy, not even Walt Disney.
nope. for one this was written before don't go down (i think. i know the studio release of don't go down came out years after this but i know he played it live way before he released it)

and two, thats just ridiculous. Quasi was it's own entity. Not every song was about Elliott. Sam obviously has a very depressed bleak point of view in his lyrics in many of his songs.

Elliott didn't invent depression

Well, Sam's pretty f*cked-up too. I think this song is kind of romantic more than friendship oriented.
