If I Could Forget

Looking back
I think of the time I spent with you
Everyday was amazing
As we dreamed up something new
Sometimes the times were tough
We had frustration and strife
But now I’ve come to realize
It was the best time of my life
What I would give if I could live
That year again
If I could unlearn all the things I’ve learned
About life and one best friend
If only I could go on from here
Knowing what I knew then
My life would be better
If I could forget
People say they’d like to go back
Knowing what they know now
I’d like to go forward
With what I had somehow
Ignorance is happiness
That’s all that I want
Time goes on and memories
Are all that I’ve got
What I would give if I could live
