Do Lyrics
Well somebody walked up to me
But I didn't know what to do
And then somebody said hello to me
But I didn't know what to do
Because I think that my words could get
Twisted so I bend my back over take a
Gulp be funny 'cause I know there's nothing I can do
Then my mother tried to pick me up
'Cause I was sitting down on the ground
Something forced my little eyes come open
But I couldn't make out the sound
It doesn't matter 'cause my eyes are lying
And they don't have emotion
Don't wanna be social
Can't take it when they hate me
But I know there's nothing I can do
When my thoughts start to feel like mine
They're taken from me, it seems to happen every time
And the feelings that are fine for you
There's somebody there
Who doesn't think they are true
So think of something new
There's nothing left to do
And then my idols walk next to me
I look up at them they fade away
It's a destruction of a mystery
The more I listen to what they say
So does that mean that there's no more doing
And there's no more thinking
And there's no more feeling
'Cause there's no right opinion
Can you tell me what I'm supposed to do
But I didn't know what to do
And then somebody said hello to me
But I didn't know what to do
Because I think that my words could get
Twisted so I bend my back over take a
Gulp be funny 'cause I know there's nothing I can do
'Cause I was sitting down on the ground
Something forced my little eyes come open
But I couldn't make out the sound
It doesn't matter 'cause my eyes are lying

If you try to think through everything you do before you do it, you're unable to act, because of the infinite amount of choices you have in every decision you make. A 'decision' is even if you think something because you judge to think something and not anything else. "When thoughts start to feel like mine they're taken from me" means that they become alienated because you notice someone else having them. And the fading idols are people, maybe musicians or stars that give advices in their songs with which you can identify, but when you hear them talking in interviews it's like destruction of a mystery (which could be "the great rock'n'roll swindle" if you know what I'm talking about) and they can't be taken as a reference. All in all, as I said, the song is about relativism an it criticises it with the last four lines. Now I'm going to have lunch, my father's yelling...
i feel like the last verse is about how the more exposure to he gets to and the more familiar he becomes with his old idols, the more his own ideas about the mystery and intrigue he felt they had about them start to fade and he loses the passion he once had. possibly feeling that they have qualities he finds undesirable in people, and that they are more common folk in a sense. the less he was certain of about them, the more he felt that they might have elevated thoughts and answers to things unknown.
I read about Jack having a breakdown when he was around 18 or 19 because he got so self-concious of not letting himself become the things around him that he didn't like, which is why he didn't get drunk, do drugs etc. I think that's what this song is about. The thing about being social- Jack is sort of an oddball and in his teenage years he didn't have much in common with everyone else his age, so he didn't have many friends. So generally I think that's what this song is about- not fitting in, and then not really wanting to if it means becoming something he dislikes.

this is a really amazing song. It expresses confusion, frustrations, and good intentions all at once.
