Mother North Lyrics
Mother north - how can they sleep while their beds are burning ?
Mother north - your fields are bleeding
Memories...The invisible wounds
pictures that enshrine your throne (gone?)
A Future benighted still they are blind
Pigeonhearted beings of flesh and blood
keeps closing their eyes for the dangers that threat...ourselves and our nature
And that is why
they all enrage me
Sometimes in the dead of the night i mesmerize my soul
Sights and visions prophecies and horror
they all come in one
Mother north - united we stand (together we walk)
Phantom north - I'll be there when you hunt them down
Mother north - your fields are bleeding
pictures that enshrine your throne (gone?)
Pigeonhearted beings of flesh and blood
keeps closing their eyes for the dangers that threat...ourselves and our nature
And that is why
they all enrage me
Sights and visions prophecies and horror
they all come in one
Phantom north - I'll be there when you hunt them down

Misinformed person who doesn't know much about black metal origins can easily misunderstand this song but its actually very anti-christian. it is about hov christianity ruined their old paganistic belifes, the glory of norway and their gods are now all gone and people just don't seem to see it that's why satyr calls them blind, yes just like Pyrrhon said it's very nacionalistic song, awsome one btw
To me, this song serves as somewhat of a national anthem for Satyricon's home country, Norway. The reason why I say this is becacuse the lyrics reveal a distinctively nationalist feeling.
This song has an awesome video, for a black metal video!
This song is one of the best black metal song! and its a black metal song with some true meanings in the lyrics. They speak about climate changes and they say we are fool to keep ours eyes closes to that true problem
@Flesh_Power I just have to say this is not about saving the climate at all , not in the way you think. Black metal for a start is pretty paganistic too the core, their relationship too nature is almost patriotic with them being Scandinavian. A paganistic concern for nature is distinctly different and shouldn't be confused with what we may call environmentalism. The meaning of Mother North is certainly harkening to "the old ways" because Scandinavias are very upset about Christianity and they have been for 2000 years. Who do you think we are hunting down!? Lol. Go translate the...

Lol. Go translate the lyrics too Oppi Fjellet by Storm lol, "if you smell Christian blood grab your axe". So the dangers they talk about are the tyrannies of indoctrination by false ideologies... of which environmentalism has become another one forcing lies down our throat. I just had to point that out.
Yeah, lets save the nature! That's so Black metal! Since when did BM bands start making songs about climate?
Since.. basically the beginning of black metal? That's a rather uninformed question, I must say. Burzum, Immortal, Satyricon, TONS of black metal bands have nature & climate involved in their lyrics.
Speaking of nature & climate, listen to this song on a snowy night in the middle of a remote forest, and just TRY not to reach some sort of enlightenment.
a lot of black metal bands songs are basically about northern europe tribes bakc in the day. and most of those tribes were pagan. and the worshiped and lived with nature. so yeah nature and climate are biggie topics. that and anti-christianity, but not always satanism. satanism is used to piss the christians off not that they technically believe in satan. satan is in christian belief, so why would they?
