New Dress Lyrics

With a Gleaming success
With a different
Religious Indifference
Mixed between the lines
Territorial company they legitimize
Persecution to fall, Enterprise
The unity’s gone
Apart from it all
The problem is spreading International
Like all of these welfare
is going to be
A brand new key

Working class girl puts her money to the test
She's got a new dress
She's Gonna look her best
Yugoslavia's been blown to bits
She's got a new dress
She's lookin' to the west
well in

When i look through and see evidence
Another truth, we're bombing us
The time for civil war is the sooner I live
The chivalrous ones are never represented

Working class girl puts her money to the test... Yeah
She's got a new dress
She's gonna look her best
Yugoslavia's been blown to bits...
Yeah
She's got a new dress
She's lookin' to the west

_ people _
The methods of the _ are dastardly
Try to cleanse the hands of the murdering
But the appendage of guilt is lingering
Shadows of soldier lay nearby
The dead ones finally reach a compromise
Destruction of war lies in Bosnia
The destruction of war lies in Bosnia

Cover art for New Dress lyrics by Rancid

i think he is talking about the widespread problems of civil wars and int. war throughout the whole world and then specifically the breakup of yugoslavia...the girl is poor and trying to live her life through all the shit around her she looks to the west ie europe and america as a inspiration for a better life

Pretty sure these are the correct lyrics for the verses:

With a gleaming success With the different tries Religious indifference Mixed between the lines Territorial company they legitimize Persecution to fall, Enterprise The U.N. is called To buffer it all. The problem is spreading international Like Ireland's Belfast it's going to be A brand new key ... Well entertain the idea of a peaceful end Some things slow down to the used-to-been Of a world which has seen the citizens die While the innocent children play near fire When i look through and see evidence Another truth, we're bombing us The time for civil war is the sooner I live The chivalrous ones are never represented ... Allegating people for impurity The methods of the summons are dastardly Try to cleanse the hands of the murdering But the appendage of guilt is lingering Shadows of soldiers lay nearby The dead ones finally reach a compromise Destruction of war lies in Bosnia The destruction of war lies in Bosnia

I don't the lyrics on this page is correct but it's a story of a girl who continues to live her own life, while the war and shit is going on.... in my opinion one of their best songs!

mail order bride...selling herself to get out of the war torn country

Cover art for New Dress lyrics by Rancid

This song is about the Bosnian War and alludes to the use of systematic mass rape, Serbian aggression, the intervention by NATO, and the international media projection of it. The girl in the story is looking to the West for help, but very little is coming. This aspect may refer to President Clinton's refusal to agree to lift the embargo on weapons that was enacted on all of the former-Yugoslavia in fear of upsetting other Western European powers who were in support of the embargo. Because the Serbs controlled the majority of weapons owned by the former Yugoslavia, the embargo left the Bosniaks (mostly) and Croats relatively defenseless against the Serbian forces.
