The 11th Hour Lyrics

Hey little sister
Do you know what time it was
When you finally seen all your broken dreams
Come crashing down your door
They demand an answer and they demand it quick
Or the questions fade and the wasted days
Come crawling back for more
And I say: "Do you know where the power lies?"
And who pulls the strings
Do you know where the power lies
I say: "It starts and ends with you"

The face of isolation
Well, that's one you recognize
Well, you can't get straight
It's a lonely place and it's one you do despise
Boredom is for sale now and helplessness you feel
It's a wounded dove and the hawks are above
Blood splattered on a reel to reel

And I say: "Do you know where the power lies?"
And who pulls the strings
Do you know where the power lies
It starts and end with you

I was almost over, my world was almost gone
In a sudden rush I could almost touch the things that I'd done wrong
My sungle's made of concrete through silence I could feel
My aim is true and I will walk on through these mountains made of steel

And I say: "Do you know where the power lies?"
And who pulls the strings
Do you know where the power lies
I say: "It starts and ends with you"
It starts and ends with you
I say:"It starts and ends with you"

This song is actually about the 11th Hour when the band decided not to sign to a major label.

This song is about knowing when you've made a mistake and learning to make the best of it. Also to overcome the things that give you a hard time or piss you off.

Did it not occur to you that this song could have such a title of some significance, yet not actually be about that specific event?

The message of this song is pretty damn clear. Do you know where the power lies? It starts and ends with you.

Duh.

It is an uplifting song. I can look at my past mistakes and still say that I will "walk on through." Ingenius.

And I failed to mention this, but the "11th-hour" refers generally to decisions made at the latest possible time. It coule be an idiom.

There are a lot of good interpretations here. I am getting clean and so the 1st and last two verses have really meant a lot to me. I think it is difficult to fully unpack the meanings. On one hand, sure you can relate it to not signing with a label. However, for me the whole wasted days and being almost over have really spoken to my addiction, and helped straighten my act out. This is a band of recovered addicts
