Dope Sick Girl Lyrics
Dope sick girl
Hit & run
She took my money
87 dollars gone
Now she's running
How was I - I to know
That a girl could take my heart everywhere she go
Dope sick girl
A rig & a ride
She's got no freedom
Little demon gonna hide inside
She's gotta feed 'em
How was I - I to know
That a girl could take my heart everywhere she go
Everywhere, everywhere she go
Dope sick girl
There she was at the methadone clinic
Drunk a cup
She called it a base coat
Swore not to get back in it
How was I - I to know
That girl could take my heart everywhere she go
Dope sick girl
Gotta rig & a ride to New York city
Gonna run away
Gonna watch it burn in the heart of New York City
How was I - I to know
That girl could take my heart everywhere she go
Hit & run
She took my money
87 dollars gone
Now she's running
That a girl could take my heart everywhere she go
Dope sick girl
She's got no freedom
Little demon gonna hide inside
She's gotta feed 'em
That a girl could take my heart everywhere she go
Everywhere, everywhere she go
Dope sick girl
Drunk a cup
She called it a base coat
Swore not to get back in it
That girl could take my heart everywhere she go
Dope sick girl
Gonna run away
Gonna watch it burn in the heart of New York City
That girl could take my heart everywhere she go

I'm not sure if this was inspired by someone Tim really knew or not, but this song is about a girl that he was in love with but it turned out she was only using him for money. Very sad, but it has one of the greatest intros in the history of punk rock. Rancid used it again when they covered NOFX's "Vanilla Sex" on the split.
I think this isn't really about a girl who was only using him, exactly. Rather I think it's about how the need for drugs can be so strong that it can even cause people you know and trust to turn against you.
It doesn't sound like he blames the girl, it sounds like he pities her and still likes her (she takes his heart everywhere she goes) even though she took his money, because he knows she was so desperate and being controlled by the "demon" of her drug addiction, and that she had "no freedom."
I find this song very sad... Way too many people become drug zombies like that.
I always thought it said "I was high, too high to know" but now I hear it.
And the intro is: This song is about a girl, who ripped me off She was dope sick
this song is a girl who pretended to love him. she just wanted something to gain
no, i agree with orangefriend. he still loves her, although her addiction caused her to turn against him and take his money. it's not so much a song against the girl, but more a song against drugs and addiction.
ain't this song the truth...anybody who's ever dated a girl who was a heroin addict will understand....like myself.
