The deep baritone vocal of this song shocked me then grew on me by the first refrain. It then gave gravitas to the huge theme of the song. The layered backing vocals add further. The poetic description of the restless swagger and graceful wonder of a river blow the socks off the usual "rollercoaster' metaphor for life. I've heard people tell me they are spiritual but not religious. I think I get that from this song.
