Bob Dylan Blues Lyrics
Got the Bob Dylan blues
And the Bob Dylan shoes
And my clothes and my hair's in a mess
But you know I just couldn't care less
Gonna write me a song 'bout what's right and what's wrong
Got God and my girl and all that
Quiet while I make like a cat
Cause I'm a poet, doncha know it
And the wind you can blow it
Cause I'm Mr. Dylan the king
And I'm free as a bird on the wing
Roam from town to town, get to get people down
but I don't care too much about that
Cause my gut and my wallet are fat
Make a whole lot of dough but i deserve it though
I got soul and a good heart of gold
So I'll sing about war and the cold
Cause I'm a poet, doncha know it
And the wind you can blow it
Cause I'm Mr. Dylan the king
And I'm free as a bird on the wing
Well I sings about dreams and I rhymes it with seams
Cause it seems that my dream always means
That I can prophesy all kinds of things
Well the guy that digs me
Should try hard to see
That he buys all my discs in a hat.
And when I'm in town go see that.
Cause I'm a poet, doncha know it
And the wind you can blow it
Cause I'm Mr. Dylan the king
And I'm free as a bird on the wing
And the Bob Dylan shoes
And my clothes and my hair's in a mess
Got God and my girl and all that
Quiet while I make like a cat
And the wind you can blow it
Cause I'm Mr. Dylan the king
And I'm free as a bird on the wing
but I don't care too much about that
Cause my gut and my wallet are fat
I got soul and a good heart of gold
So I'll sing about war and the cold
And the wind you can blow it
Cause I'm Mr. Dylan the king
And I'm free as a bird on the wing
Cause it seems that my dream always means
That I can prophesy all kinds of things
Should try hard to see
That he buys all my discs in a hat.
And when I'm in town go see that.
And the wind you can blow it
Cause I'm Mr. Dylan the king
And I'm free as a bird on the wing

I think its both a praise and mocking of pop artistry at the same time. KInd of like the milky way song. Syd just went all out stripping poetry of the mystique but still retaining the magical feeling that makes music improtant to us.
I was suprised when i found out it was a praise of Dylan, but in Syd's way. For a long time i thought it was a blunt mocking of him.
A really witty song, this song has quite a history and was released fairly recently. Turns out, Syd was a Dylan fan at some point. This song could fool you into thinking otherwise.
Barrett had some issues with the concept of an "artist" and "good work". He may have been a fan but he was never unabashedly a fan of any artist. He may have had many qualities that might make you dismiss him, but this one quality he had made him intrinsic.
Sometimes I get sad. When I hear this song I cry from laughing so hard. Artists like Syd and bob keep me going. Always remember when you get sad to listen to the music that makes you happy
