Slipping Lyrics

I changed your name again.
You are out to lose yourself again.
Time is always slipping through your fingers.
And that is why you are falling down.
And maybe... maybe... I should have tried to save you.
I should have tried to save you.
But I was looking to be saved myself.
I am looking to be saved myself.
I am looking to be saved.

You are running out of time again, and giving up on letting in.
You are always looking for the answers.
And that is why they are never found.
And maybe... maybe... I should have tried to save you.
I should have tried to save you.
But I was looking to be saved myself.
I am looking to be saved myself.
I am looking to be saved.

I should have tried to save you...
I should have tried to save you.
I should have tried to save you.

I changed your name again...

Cover art for Slipping lyrics by Lily Holbrook

I initially thought this was a song about being tempted to suicide by the self-inflicted death of someone close.

I think its now about two people going through identity crises. This interpretation is practically the only sense I can make of the repetitiously stated lyric "I changed your name again".

I wanted to also add that I initially thought this song was about the death of a sibling who she used to call names - when she changed his name again - it was to "angel".
