I dried my eyes, now I'll crust them with sleep
I'll crust them over
She begged me, "Don't hate me"
She spun me a story
Where winning looks like losing and I'm winning every time
So thread spools, sweetie, get ready
Until my silk is sold

Growing up
Growing up
Growing up

Yeah, I'll find myself anew
Yeah, I'll find myself anew

I've dried my eyes, now it's "Rushmore"
I'm deep with futures like Chicago
No, Glenview never meant a thing to me
She never meant a thing to me
'Cept for putting idealists in a body bag

Forget it
I'll go out tonight and piss on her doorstep
And listen to The Misfits "Where Eagles Dare"
To swallow whole

Up
Growing up
Growing up

(Go)

Whoa, I guess I'm my own better half
Whoa, I guess I'm my own better half

Whoa, yeah, I guess I'm on my own
I guess I'm on my own
I guess I'm on my own
I guess I'm on my own

this song is AWESOME! Im listening to it now, Ive had this CD since it came out and this is my fav song on it. I think its cause Im from Glenview which is the town theyre talking about Glenview is right by Wilmette in Illinois where all the guys in FOB are from. Its basically how you grow up and bad relatinoships end. end of story.

I dried my eyes now i crust them with sleep. i'll crust them over. - after being sad he jsut sleeps alot and dreams about it She begged me "dont hate me". she spun me a story - she cheated? and tried to lie Where winning looks like loosing and i'm winning every time. so thread spools sweetie, get ready. Until my silk is sold.- shes convinced him to stay with her, and it looks good, although he knows hes worse off.

Growing up. Yeah, i'll myself a new.- a new gf? and hes wanting to be in an adult relationship ?

I've dried my eyes. now it's "rushmore". i'm deep with futures like chicago. referring to crying again Glenview never meant a thing to me, she never meant a thing to me except for putting idealists in body bags. - where patrick comes from, and he doesnt like the place because it didnt treat him well ? Forget it, i'll go out tonight to piss on her doorstep - literally could have done that And listen to the misfits "where eagels dare" to swallow whole. - could be a song that reminds him ?

    Growing up.

I guess im on my own.

    My Interpretation

For once I think the title actually does explain it all: This song is about growing up!

The first line: I dried my eyes now I crust them with sleep. I'll crust them over. It's a little vague, but I think it's a line about maybe getting out of a relationship, drying your eyes of the tears shed over the last loss. Crusting my eyes over with sleep I think means ignoring the obvious issues in a relationship because your in a haze, like sleep. Crust them over completely because you can get pretty oblivious, almost blind!

The next part: She begged me "dont hate me". she spun me a story Where winning looks like losing and i'm winning every time. so thread spools sweetie, get ready. Until my silk is sold.

She begged me "don't hate me", "don't hate me" is a pretty grade school thing to say before you break up with someone kinda insinuating that it might have been a very early relationship, and that it had finally become obvious that the relationship was over. She spun him a story where winning looks like losing etc., is the typical break-up "oh it's not you, it's me" bullshit where you're clearly losing that relationship, but they want you to believe you're winning some sort of freedom. The last part is basicly saying, yeah, yeah I've heard it before just make it good and convincing.

The Chorus: Growing up, is just restating the obviousness of the theme I kinda disagree with what's written I think it says, I'll find myself a new, taking some downtime to just be single maybe?

I'm losing interest so I'll be quick the rest of the song is about another attempt at going out, there it ending negatively because he still had feelings for the last relationship and realizing he's better off on his own still, part of being a grown up and being in a relationship is knowing when to take some me time and that's what growing up

where eagles dare is a song about how your going miss me cuz I'm awesome, which kinda fits in to my explanation

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
