I always thought that it was reference to the Scripture. The sword and my heart being the Bible (Eph. 6:17) and your weapons are useless, drop the gun, my war is not with someone like you, going back to the scripture "We wrestle not with flesh and blood but with principalities..." (Eph. 6:12). The through my throat, giving me thought to speak, is the prayer that is used to fight spiritual battles. The concrete eyes are the physical eyes that cannot see things spiritual things. That's just what I always thought though.
Alas, a typo! the line "Through my throat my throat giving me thought to speak" should be "Through my throat giving me thought to speak"

Aside from this song being named: face:face on the 5 track pre release, i belive this song is talking about a war of words, and that if you use the wrong words (ammo) your weapons are nothing. Thats very brief and it goes a lot deeper.
what happened to, "your eyes, your conrete eyes"
the first verse isnt right either... instead of "Cross crisscross my path walking in circular patterns" it should be "Cross crisscross my path they walk, walk in their circular patterns"... anyways check out their website (www.normajeannoise.com)
I think this song is about how powerful and destructive words can be. and possibly how when witnessing to someone that just trying to win an argument doesn't solve anything.
Lyrics in booklet, WHERE ARE THE LYRICS?? In the booklet...
okay i dont get this. all the norma jean lyrics are said differently and they say crap in between the lines that isnt written anywhere. like whats after the word patterns before "shoe shine, your ammo, your metal" and he says polish your...what? and a whole ton of stuff all through the song that isnt in the lyrics anywhere. why cant they just type what they actually say. the lyrics in the chariot booklet are also completely wrong. it bothers me... if anyone knows the right lyrics for this song or the others, comment them, cuz they do that on almost every song.
