Practice What You Preach Lyrics

You think your life´s so grand
You don´t believe a word you say
Your feet aren´t on the ground
You let your life just slip away
Just so uncertain of your body and your soul
The promises you make your mind go blank
and then you lose control, then you lose control!

I never was the one, the one to say
the things you say
Never seem to wonder what you say
You think you´ve got your life completely in control
You´ve got a lot to learn, the bridge you burned
It´s gonna take its toll!!! Pay the burnt bridge toll!!!

So practice what you preach!
Practice What You Preach!
Practice What You Preach!
Practice What You Preach!

You think your life´s so grand
You don´t believe a word you say
Your feet aren´t on the ground
You let your life just slip away
Just so uncertain of your body and your soul
The promises you make your mind goes blank
and then you lose control
Pay the burnt bridge toll, then you lose control
Pay the burnt bridge toll, so practice what you preach!

Another great thrash song. Alex Skolnik was the most underrated guitarist of this genre, and Testament as a band never got the publicity they deserved. Forget the mainstream bands, if you want to hear a great metal song listen to this one.

The title of the song goes a long way towards providing the meaning. This song is aimed at those who are constantly telling others what to do while not being able to follow their own advice. Based on all the bad goings on among televangelists during the era when this song came out, I'd hazard a guess that it was aimed at them, but it has a pretty broad application.

I LOVE THIS SONG!!! First Testament song I heard all the way through. The solos blew my mind away, and I thought, these guys rule. It seems to be about how the government tells us to do one thing, then they go and do the opposite.

This masterpiece is one of the most played thrash songs currently on my i-Pod. It's a shame the spotlight never left similar bands like Metallica and Slayer. Twenty years later, though, it appears Metallica has sold out for good and Slayer hasn't produced a good album in years. Testament's "The Formation of Damnation" was as good a release as ever.
