Through The Floor Lyrics

Bathed in sunlight woke from dreams
of murderous intention
Pursued by dogs and men and things
I'm just too scared to mention
And the first thing that I think of
are her sympathetic eyes
That see with only positive emotion
And she talks of being grumpy,
but I know that grumpy's not her style
And I soak up all her beauty
'cause I'm only here awhile
And I muddle through my docket,
nestle in the pocket
Just sit back and think about the world
And the only thing I see
when she's looking back at me
Is the promise of how life could be
And as I wrote my chest got tight for her
I know that I'm not right for her
and I couldn't live
if I ever caused her pain
But at least I have a message
that I can leave
that tells her of this spin inside
My gears turning,
I'm still learning to trust myself
But at least I've told her
of this difficult good-bye
Seven minutes before
I'm leaving and now my chest is heaving
I just can't go like I did before
And tomorrow I'll be miles away and dreaming
That she hears my voice
floating through the floor

This is definately one of my favorite songs by Edwin.

I remember reading somewhere that while the band was recording their "Misguided Roses" cd they rented a basement apartment below the apartment of a lady with a brain tumor. She was told that the surgery needed to remove it could be fatal but she decided to go through with it anyways and she ended up survivng. After that she decided to dedicate the rest of her life to helping others.

Now back to Edwin and the song--Whenever the band would rehearse their music in the basement the lady would sit in a chair and listen to the music through the floor. When the band finished the album and moved out of that apartment Edwin wrote a song about this lady.

Wallflower101 is very close - the band was recording in the basement of a house of two producers. A girl in her twenties lived there who had brain surgery when she was sixteen. She survived a very risky surgery, and told Edwin about how she dedicated her life to helping others afterwards. When he recorded this song to her very late at night, she could hear the music floating up through the floor.

@blueblonde The story behind the lyrics makes this song even more special. Thank you.

Still one of the most beautiful surprise hidden tracks, let alone actual tracks on an album.\n\nSuch lyrical substance.
