Middle East Lyrics
In the Middle East one day, the Bruins swept away
In comes the sunshine, story turned to strange
In walking comes a smile, I didn't know the day
She sits downside me, perfectly arranged
Laura's gone away, I don't know just how long she'll be there
Sadly eyes of pain are bouncing in and out of nowhere
She wanders all around, will she make it on fries and coffee
There are bigger words than tears, yeah I'm afraid of what it might be
Laura's gone away, I don't know just how long she'll be there
Sadly eyes of pain are bouncing in and out of nowhere
And she's bouncing in and out of nowhere
Ain't nobody help me on the outside,
Gotta make it through to the inside
And I'm talking strange
Laura's gone away, I don't know just how long she'll be there
Sadly eyes of pain are bouncing in and out of nowhere
It's alright, she leaves it all behind
We all run to the Middle East sometimes
Little mind, yeah can take us anywhere,
Escape us anywhere, escape us anywhere
In comes the sunshine, story turned to strange
In walking comes a smile, I didn't know the day
She sits downside me, perfectly arranged
Sadly eyes of pain are bouncing in and out of nowhere
There are bigger words than tears, yeah I'm afraid of what it might be
Sadly eyes of pain are bouncing in and out of nowhere
And she's bouncing in and out of nowhere
Gotta make it through to the inside
And I'm talking strange
Sadly eyes of pain are bouncing in and out of nowhere
We all run to the Middle East sometimes
Little mind, yeah can take us anywhere,
Escape us anywhere, escape us anywhere

This song just plain rocks! It's not so much the lyrics as it is the guitars at the end of this song -- 2 to 3 minutes of good ole fashioned "rockin out" runs a warmth down your spine. Check this song out if you haven't.
Love that middle-eastern drum that accompanies the first half of the song. And yeah, the rockin' out at the end is awesome.
"In walking comes a smile, I didn't know the day She sits downside me, perfectly arranged "
Those lines, too, are great. Probably my favourite song by The Watchmen (and it bugs me that hardly anyone knows them...bah).
