Someone To Lay Down Beside Me Lyrics

There's somebody waiting alone in the street
For someone to walk up and greet
Here you are all alone in the city
Where's the love that you took to your side
Lonely faces will stare through your eyes in the night

And they'll say
Woman sweet woman
Please come home with me
You're shining and willing and free
But your love is a common occurrence
Not like love that I feel in my heart
Still you know that may be what I need

Is someone to lay down beside me
And even though it's not real
Just someone to lay down beside me
You're the story of my life

Someone to lay down beside me
And even though it's not real
Just someone to lay down beside me
You're the story of my life

The morning is breaking
The street lights are off
The sun will soon share all the cost
Of a world that can be sort of heartless
Not like love that I feel in my heart
Still you know that may be all you'll get

Is someone to lay down beside you
And even though it's not real
Just someone to lay down beside you
You just can't ask for more

Wow, can't believe no one's commented on this song. It's originaly written by Karla Bonhoff. Very haunting.

I think this one's about looking for love but settling for meaningless one-night stands to make you forget about your loneliness.

"But your love is a common ocurrence, not like love that I feel in my heart..." sums up this song exactly. Is it that we give in so quickly to ourselves for a "quick fix" that we don't feel real love will ever exist or don't trust our heart?

Karla, the song writer, delivers a deeper, more hauting quality than Ronstadt. The original versions are always more edgy, more real then the next generations. Feeling is sometimes lost in translation. Karla shoots straight from the heart.

"Help me make It Through The Night" by Kris Kristopherson follows the same logic. That song always got me. I coul feel the pain of loneliness in the words. ACoustic guitar is so vivid and so real to the song's ultimate meaning.

Jews are well networked in the entertainment industry. Marginal Jewish artists like Bonoff get freedom in their work that only the most talented Gentiles will get. It's a beautiful melody and the chorus seems to indicate a love song. It's about a lonely woman, unable to establish a relationship in her life, settling for anonymous sex. I like the lyrics, they are honest and I feel compassion for the woman depicted, probably the songwriter herself.

@xz10856806 what the hell does this have to do with Jews?
