When Good Dogs Do Bad Things Lyrics
I'm the best you will ever have
You're the best I'll never have
Pain..
Gone.
Rain..
Stop.
Sun..
Shine.
You're..
Mine.
Here Kitty Kitty Kitty
MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY
Listen:
Listen through the walls
The sound of quick footsteps sneaking down the hall
Whispers
The pages turning
The leaking roof
The toilet flushing
Numbers on the license plate
I'm nothing more then
The best you'll never have
A speck on your bedroom wall
A blood red waterfall
THE BEST YOU WILL EVER HAVE
Your dead things are locked up inside
Blow smoke rings straight back in time
Roses floating out with the tide
Dance and sing under gunfire
Open wings slowly take flight..
Around these parts a fly can live---
A fly can live a thousand years
But a man connot die soon enough, true enough.
A smiling drunk nursing a glass of milk
A girl with a face like prison bread
Over the kitchen noise a hear them howl at me
A scabby ketchup bottle and a two-dollar bill
I guess it's time to pay the bill, but you know I never will
I'm hungry still..
RUN AWAY RUN AWAY RUN AWAY RUN AWAY
Mercy killing on the way
Never thought I'd hear you say
Falling to your knees and pray now..
In this crowded place I could swing a cat
And not even hit a soul..
It's just the lonely vacuum of human black holes
And I'm as dry as these thirsty trees
With big city thoughts in the dirty breeze..
Promising to set me free
"Waiter, check please.."
I'M THE BEST YOU WILL EVER HAVE
You're the best I'll never have
Gone.
Rain..
Stop.
Sun..
Shine.
You're..
Mine.
Listen through the walls
The sound of quick footsteps sneaking down the hall
Whispers
The pages turning
The leaking roof
The toilet flushing
Numbers on the license plate

Alla of the other suggestions are plausible, but. It more simple than that.
This song is inside the head of a jealous family dog, ripping the family cat to pieces. He wants to be the only one loved. The kid in the family sees it the aftermath, "mommy" "mommy" The call the animal patrol to put the dog down, when the kid realizes what's going to happen to the dog, he screams to the dog, helps him escape. Run away!
Now the dog is all alone, a stray dog, with no one there to take care of it. Noone sees the dog on the streets. He's all alone
Oh, you can't edit comments... Sorry for the sloppy autocorrect. Here's at it again:

Now the dog is all alone, a stray dog, with no one there to take care of it. Just empty humans walking around in a big city that was supposed to be the solution to the mercy killing of the dog. No one sees the dog on the streets. He's all alone.
The kid, who helped the dog escape many years ago, reminiscence the whole thing on a diner, he cuts out the cigarett and asks for the check. Probably as alone as the dog once was, growing up in a home with a leaky roof and people smoking inside.
this song is fucking amazing.
This song to me sounds like it's about a guy who's found out that his girlfriend has cheated on him and he wants her to know what it did to him. The title "When Good Dogs Do Bad Things" goes with theme in saying that the guys girlfriend acted like an angel, then turned out to be a whore by cheating on him, completely destroying the image of her he perceived.
"I'm the best you will ever have You're the best I'll never have"
The guy thinks that his girlfriend was the best thing to happen to him and then realises that he'll no longer be able to look at her in the same light.
"Pain.. Gone. Rain.. Stop. Sun.. Shine. You're.. Mine."
He doesn't want to believe that this happened to him.
The next two lines ("Here kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty" & "MOMMMY, MOMMY, etc..") call forth his girlfriend and vent some rage, then send her running home to her mother.
"Listen: Listen through the walls The sound of quick footsteps sneaking down the hall Whispers The pages turning The leaking roof The toilet flushing Numbers on the license plate"
He's recalling when he found out that she was cheating on him. He came home and heard some noises upstairs or wherever, people whispering, a person running. "The pages turning" could mean that he realises that his life has just been changed, or it could have the same effect as the next two lines in that he hear's it amongst the sounds of his girlfriend and her partner freaking out because the boyfriend just came home. "The Numbers on..." would be the boyfriend seeing the partner running out to his car and seeing him drive off.
"I'm nothing more then The best you'll never have A speck on your bedroom wall A blood red waterfall"
Again, he's thinking that she's missing out on what could be the best thing to happen to her.
The rest of the song sounds to me like he's going through all of the memories he's had with her and the other assorted thoughts that are running through his head about the entire ordeal. It also sounds as if he has some rage built up inside and just wants to blow up in her face, let her know what she did to him, and then make her suffer for it.
He ends it by, as some others have said, breaking up with her in a diner. The last line shows that he's still full of rage and sorrow, but he probably realises that there's nothing he can do but move on.
Of course, this all just how I view the song. For all I know, it could be about something that has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.
hey...this is just...perfect...
He's raping and murdering a child to temporarily ease his own pain caused when he sold his soul to the devil.
