Landslide Lyrics
I climbed a mountain and I turned aroung
And I saw my reflection in the snowcovered hills
Well the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love
Can the child within my heart rise above
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life
Well, I've been afraid of changing 'cause I built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older too
Well...well, I've been afraid of changing 'cause I built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older, too
Well I'm getting older too
So, take this love and take it down
Yeah and if you climb a mountain and ya turn around
And if you see my relection in the snow-covered hills
Well the landslide brought me down
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well maybe
Well maybe
Well maybe the landslide will bring you down
Fleetwood Mac is good. but i like the Dixie chick's version better.....
Sorry but it needs to be said: This site is not a forum for debates about who did a better cover ...
Now for the meaning: I think this is about that realization that what you've been working for all this time used to be worth it (the effort in climbing a mountain - raising kids, keeping your family together) but given the personal sacrifice and the feeling that life is passing you by, you begin to reassess those choices (time makes you bolder) and consider cutting your losses and making a change (turn around) and if the partner were honest about it too (see his own reflection) he'd agree as well that there's nothing holding the two of you together and he'd willingly let go (give in to the landslide)
i have 2 words: SU PERB (ok, FINE, it's 2 words... but i didn't wanna say superb twice and sound stupid... umm). this is SUCH A GOOD cover. natalie's vocals are amazing... and GOD, everything is beautiful on this cover. when i first saw that the chicks were covering on Home.. i was excited and the divas live performance with stevie nicks... was.. eh. just not as good... i think their voices clashed. have you guys ever heard a song live and then heard the studio version? well, it sound SO much better (duh). yeah, so BUY HOME... it's really good. really.
This is such a beautiful song! I love the Dixie Chicks! And this is such a gnarley song!
This song is very thought provoking. I think it is a nice tune, and one of the Dixie Chicks' best efforts.
I like this song...I usually stare out the window at nothing when i'm listening to it. Hey I didn't know Fleetwood Mac sang this song originally! Oh well.
there is also a tori amos cover. i thought tori amos did the first though....... ~a bit slow~
Great song... actually enjoyed this version better than the original by Fleetwood Mac (and I am not a Dixie Chicks fan at all)...
This song is about growing up...stevie nicks wrote it when she was like 29...and the lead singer of the dixie chicks dicovered it when she was 29...its about reaching that point in your life when u realise that u are getting older and growing up.....its asking if she will be able to "handle the seasons of my life"...its about maturing and reaching that point where u know that u have to stop stuffing round and get on with things
Oh Ricky love, what is egregious?
