Honest Questions Lyrics
Can you see
The honest questions in my heart this hour?
I'm opening like a flower to the rain
And do you know
The silent sorrows of a
Never ending journey through the pain
Do you see a brighter day for me?
Another day?
A day?
Do you wonder t=what's in store for me?
The cure for me?
The way?
"I will pour my water down
Upon a thirsty barren land
And streams will flow from the dust of
Your bruised and broken soul
You will grow like the grass
Upon the fertile plains of Asia
By the streans of living water
You will grow
You will grow"
Do you know
My story from the start?
And do you know
Like you've always told me?
Do you see
The whispters in my heart against your kindness
My eternal blindness
Do you see?
Do you see a brighter day for me?
Another day?
A day?
Do you wonder t=what's in store for me?
The cure for me?
The way?
Oh look down and see the tears I've cried
The lives I've lived
The deaths I've died
You died them too
And all for me
And you say:
"I will pour my water down
Upon a thirsty barren land
And streams will flow from the dust of
Your bruised and broken soul
You will grow like the grass
Upon the fertile plains of Asia
By the streans of living water
You will grow
You will grow"

This song is amazing!! Not a fan normally, but this song is gorgeus. I love it.
I agree, this is one of the best songs on the album. For me, this song is about the ultimate in suffering and anguish. I am not a religious person so correct me if I am wrong, but the song can't not be interpreted as talking to God?
got obssessed with this song on holiday n had it stuk in my head 4 weeks. v powerful lyrics and a v meaningful song. im not religious either but i agree the song has 2 b about god.
I'm not even Christian, but this song does seem to be about God now that you mention it.. Never thought about it, just listen to his lovely voice, and how it soothes your mind...
This song is definitely about God. There are some scriptural references "barren land" and such. But everyone is right, this song is beautiful. I've never heard a song quite like this.
"The whispers in my heart against your kindness My eternal blindness"
"The deaths I've died You died them too And all for me"
Definetly sounds Christian......Maybe he's praying.....?
There is a definate reference to Isaiah, a book in the bible:
"For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses." God in Isaiah 44:3-4
And the part about "And streams will flow from the dust of Your bruised and broken soul" refers to something Jesus said:
“If you are thirsty, come to me and drink! Have faith in me, and you will have life-giving water flowing from deep inside you, just as the Scriptures say.” Jesus in John 7:37-38
I think it's definitely a prayer to God because Daniel is an outspoken Christian. He openly shares his faith during concerts and occasionally in his songs. (source: http://www.answers.com/topic/daniel-bedingfield?cat=entertainment)
The song is honest, heartfelt, struggling with problems, identity and sin (doing things wrong) deepening towards the end:
"Oh look down and see the tears I've cried The lives I've lived The deaths I've died You died them too And all for me"
Like he's saying: God take a look at me, the problems I'm facing, how many times I died in the process... and then realizing God was there all along with him. Helping him, carrying him. But above all dying out of love for him on the cross, for his sins. "you died them too... and all for me!" And you say:
"I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness." (john 10:10)
So there you have it:life in all its fullness, growth, healing of brokenness. :)
