I think that when he refers to "like a child" he means innocently because the public seen of children is innocence. And when he says "I'll pray for you" I think hes meaning that no hard feelings toward whatever girl this song was written for. I'm not sure, but I gave it a try :)

this song seems to have a deeper deeper meaning in it,like someone trying to explain a memory as a childhood that's gone and how stepping into adolescent year snatch us away from innocence.hmmm :)
