I Drove All Night Lyrics

I had to escape , The city was sticky and cruel
Maybe I should have called you first
But I was dying to get to you

I was dreaming while I drove
The long straight road ahead
Uh-huh, yeah

Could taste your sweet kisses, your arms open wide
This fever for you was just burning me up inside

I drove all night to get to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night, crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep to make love to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night

What in this world keeps us from falling apart?
No matter where I go
I hear the beating of our one heart
I think about you when the night is cold and dark
Uh-huh, yeah

No one can move me the way that you do
Nothing erases this feeling between me and you
I drove all night to get to you
Is that all right?

I drove all night, crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep to make love to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night

Could taste your sweet kisses, your arms open wide
This fever for you was just burning me up inside

I drove all night to get to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night, crept in your room
Is that all right?
I drove all night

I love the urgency in this. Love can make you do some crazy things, but I doubt the girl being sung to has a problem with him going so out of his way for her. So sweet. I've driven through my share of nights for someone as well, so I know how that is. :p

CELINE DION HAS COMPLETELY BUTCHERED THIS GREAT SONG!

^ Agreed. Her version sucks monkey balls. The Cyndi Lauper versions aint great either. The only somewhat acceptable cover is the Pinmonkey version, but its mssing the drums and it needs that urgency and its too country.

This is such a beautiful, romantic song. No cover can top Roy's version, it's a classic.

This tune was my inspiration to drive a thousand miles for my always loved girl...just to tell her how i felt about her from once and for all...and i did. The result was a surprising and successful love story that i only dreamed to have with her everytime i listened this song driving to her city without any advice, just with my motivation...

Unfortunately, that happiness didn't last a life how i was expecting...but goddamnit...i went out there, hit the highway and did it.

First, it was originally done by Lauper. Orbison did a cover of it. Although the writer had Orbison in mind when trying to get a singer. Dion....well, let's just not talk about it. Second the song is a dark song about an insane guy describing the rape of his victim from his psychotic point of view.
Which makes Lauper's version even more dark and haunting.
