To me Ritchie Dagger is about homosexuality. "His idea of fun was society's grudge." "He sits in the corner a child despised"- I've noticed how some parents freak out if their child displays homosexual behavior, like holding hands with or kissing their same sex friend (early age). In western culture, you learn from a young age, homosexuality is not socially accepted. When a child displays anti-social behavior (different from what the mainstream society portrays as okay), a parent will often abandon their children, depending on what type of parent they are and their own values of course, "a child despised" obviously means this kid was an outcast, oh he's probably a bit older (puberty/sexual maturity) since he's "like a child despised" not literally a child.
"Suck me in and spit me out, devour me in haste"
Since the Germs supposedly made themselves sort of cult-like following- We lead the science All social convicts (misfits, deviants) follow the rhymes, accept your cure (some people see homosexuality as a disease)
I believe there are multiple versions of this song with different lyrics, one version has the lyrics:
he could set your mind ablaze with sparkling eyes and visionary case he stood like a remnant from an outbreak past wore something in his ear and boy was he a sass
sounds like Darby admired him :) , obviously something in his ear- back in the day right ear earring= gay, and he was a sass, standing up for himself I guess or just not being pushed around
Could be autobiographical or mix (some about himself, some about somebody else)
I agree with you.
I agree with you.
Awesome song.
But.. is this about Richie Dagger, the author?
Well I guess It's pretty obvious what this song is about...
But in Lexicon Devil I read that Darby was considering christening himself Richie Daggers before he went with Darby Crash. So It's probably about himself.
well im not gona propose some insane theory but i would say the songs about being a punk, with trashy cloths and freaky deaky hair and all that.

i mean, i dunno
So i read in the lexicon devil book or somewhere online that the song was about a friend Regi Mentle.. who was a close gay friend. In 1980, some dude pulled a knife on Regi, but Regi stabbed him back and killed him, but took it too far and he got life. I just found the whole section in the book as im typing this haha. Regi said after he killed the guy, he ran away and lived with a psychic that didnt know Regi killed him. He asked the psychic if he can communicate with Darby and so they pulled out a Ouija board.. and Regi asked if he should join him anytime soon.. and Darby replied 'Not yet, shithead' haha. pretty cool. not sure if anyone saw the germs biopic that came out, but that scene where darby just shoots up that vial that isnt labeled.. the guy in black bondage who comes over with it is supposed to be Regi back in the day.
dude. fuck yeah! haha
dude. fuck yeah! haha
I think I read somewhere that this song was about Rob Henley, who was actually Darby's boyfriend.
I Think It's About Sid Vicious (John Simon Ritchie) & How He Stabbed Nancy & Was A Mess.
