Politician Lyrics
Hey now baby, get into my big black car
Hey now baby, get into my big black car
I wanna just show you what my politics are.
I'm a political man and I practice what I preach
I'm a political man and I practice what I preach
So don't deny me baby, not while you're in my reach.
I support the left, tho' I'm leanin', leanin' to the right
I support the left, tho' I'm leanin' to the right
But I'm just not there when it's coming to a fight.
Hey now baby, get into my big black car

I love this song, especially when the BBC sessions announcer says it's time to get good and groovy with this heap of blues called the Politician. Another underrated cream song that is amazing
Amazing guitar riff in through the whole song.
i just saw jack bruce in concert like 3 days ago and this was one of the songs he played and it was amazing! he was really good live but he looked so old time has not been good to him

The perfect Cream tune for North American airwaves this Fall... given that there are elections to be decided in both the U.S. and Canada. The message is simple: Politicians are ALL crooks and they only serve THEMSELVES!
jumperdancer: Bruce was playing near my home in August too... but I MISSED IT. I'm glad to hear he's STILL sounding great. Rock on Jack!!!!
@RayMan I see this comment after the election in 2020, and of course the message remains true. No matter where a politician leans, someone will disagree with them. In the end, they only serve in their best interests. I'll pretend it's not true and just go listen to some more Cream.

This is one of my favorits songs. I didn't know Bruce did the guitar part that's so haunting, thought it was Clapton -- I don't really know music, just like what I like. It's hypnotic.
The Morgan family may have written a song called Politician but it couldn't be this one. Cream released it in 1968. Denroy Morgan, the father of the above named writers arrived in the US in 1965 so I find it highly doubtful that his children could have written it. They went on to form a band and release albums but not until 1994.
It was written by Jack Bruce and Pete Brown.
