100 Mile High City Lyrics
so i said i'm on the roam so i need a car
and i know that i'm getting alive
and i say i got faith and a season
and i say that's where i'm going too
CHORUS
i get a need and i'm wanting to please it
i got a face and i'm wanting to feel it
the more i feel is the more that i need it
the more i need is the less i believe it
well i want a good love on my side
keep on getting out love and my pride
and i know i keep hurting my love, yeah
but i know it ain't killing
CHORUS
so i said i'm on the roam so i need a car
and i know that i'm staying alive
and i know that faith is in my season
and i say that's where i'm living
CHORUS X2
and i know that i'm getting alive
and i say i got faith and a season
and i say that's where i'm going too
i got a face and i'm wanting to feel it
the more i feel is the more that i need it
the more i need is the less i believe it
keep on getting out love and my pride
and i know i keep hurting my love, yeah
but i know it ain't killing
and i know that i'm staying alive
and i know that faith is in my season
and i say that's where i'm living

"Hundred Mile High City" was written by Steve Cradock and was the lead track for the album "Marchin' Already", in 1997 it was released as a single, climbing to number 4 in the United Kingdom charts.
The mystery surrounding the lyrics was resolved in an interview with Steve in 2002 where he explained that the song was about a friend of his called Martin 'Frank' Chamberlain who was in a deep depression over a failed love affair. He went on further to say that Martin was mortified because he had been oblivious to his own behaviour which led to the breakdown. Hence, the song is about desperation of a love lost and the need to escape the pain (possible thoughts of suicide), to a backdrop of the notion that it was he who was the architect of his own downfall.
This song is a really good song, fits very well in the Lock, Stock and Two Smoking barrels movie.
