Lyrics hit a spot there for me, listen to it when you've had a breakup and it never fails to get the tears rolling, I first heard this back in 1987 I think and it's stuck with me ever since

This is an amazing song, just expresses how one feels after losing someone so close to them. "Days filled with joy, days filled with sorrow. I don't know just what to do." He wants so desperately to give love to someone again, but can't find anyone "I've been waiting, for the angels to knock on my door", but he still feels something for his ex lover "I've been hoping, everything could be like before". He wants to love his former lover, and tells her to "open your heart...make up your mind" because he knows it will be too late if she waits. In the bridge, he states the truth that nobody can "fix" how he's feeling except her, when she gives him an answer on what she is going to do/how she feels about him.
