Ethan's Song Lyrics

I love you but I hate you,
Which brings to mind how much I love you
We could've worked things out you know, in a little room... in a little locked room.
I'm sorry you had to settle for Dave, the one dimenson man.
He's filed under cocksucker in my little black book.
Sweetness can rot your teeth; bittersweet cacophony.

But

You hold the key, you hold the key to my little locked room.
You hold the key, you hold the key... to my little locked whoa-oooh.

Please let me out soon.

I luh you!

This song is from the motion picture Slacker, which I fell in love with the movie the first time I saw it, This song lets you see a more intimate side of Jason Schwartzman's character, Ethan. It may seem funny to some, but I really thing it is a good song.

Yeah, some people think it's just a funny end-of-movie lament, but this would be a really good song! Jason Schwartzman should SING for PP, not drum.

Unfortunately mr schwartzman has left phantom planet. But, I read that the songs's lyrics were taken from a magazine article about like 20 ways to push a girl away or something like that. Hail to J.S. brilliant man.

This song is pretty good. It makes me feel kind of bad for Cool Ethan, even if he is a creepy asshole. One thing though: when I heard this song on Comedy Central's presentation of Slackers, I could've sworn I'd heard it somewhere before. I heard that Dashboard Confessional did this song also, but I don't know how true that is. Anyone have any ideas?

Being a big J.S. fan, I felt guilty for never seeing Slackers before it was on Comedy Central a little while ago. Probably one of the creepiest roles he's ever played, but he pulled it off.

And yeah, I add 2 years later, he did leave PP. But he left to persue his acting career, so he already chose to leave before he did this movie.

Yeah, I googled the lyrics, and I found one site (and only one, so maybe they just thought it was Dashboard?) that had the lyrics under Dashboard Confessional. It would be weird if they did do it, because it has "Dave" in it, and also the whole "little black book" thing since Cool Ethan had one and said "You just made my little black book."

So it seems the song was written specifically for the movie.

The way he says 'I luh you!' is so adorable...

Or maybe Dashboard played it at a show. I've never seen this on any of their cds. Dashboard Confessional has a habit of whipping out random covers during their sets.

I like to sing this to my sisters. and to lovers. It's so disturbing. I love it!
