Body Electric Lyrics
Through the cables and the underground now
The faceless breathless calls
This is Babel, sensurround now
This place is death with walls [repeat x4]
Too much contact, no more feeling
The Sound around them all
Acid on the floor so she walk on the ceiling
And the body electric flashes on the bathroom wall
[repeat x2]
Crawling to the corners where the idiot children call
See the body flashing on the bathroom wall
Repeat All
The faceless breathless calls
This is Babel, sensurround now
This place is death with walls [repeat x4]
The Sound around them all
Acid on the floor so she walk on the ceiling
And the body electric flashes on the bathroom wall
[repeat x2]
Crawling to the corners where the idiot children call
See the body flashing on the bathroom wall

The title is taken from Walt Whitman's poem I Sing The Body Electric: http://www.bartleby.com/142/19.html
Contemporary cashflow problems at Merciful Release meant that the Sisters second single was released on the CNT label out of York. CNT (Confederacion National de Trabajo) was the name of an anarchist worker's collective which was active in the Spansih Civil War. The cover features Francis Bacon's excellent Head VI, one of a series of Bacon pictures based on Velasquez's portrait of Pope Innocent X.
"Through the cables and the underground now" Underground tube is in underground. Of course. "The faceless breathless calls" Anouncements over the PA. "And the body electric flashes on the bathroom wall" Someone wrote that the walls in many London tube stations are tiled like in bathrooms. "Acid on the floor so she walk on the ceiling" I have heard that Sisters used some drugs so maybe they were tripping in tube when inspiration to this song was gained.
This song is apparently about the Bar Phono club in Leeds, formerly Le Phonographique. It's a famous "goth" venue, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Eldritch would deride it. ;)
