Q&A
She Did a Lot of Acid Lyrics
She had a mental problem
She couldn't concentrate
She was her own delusion
She was her own mistake
She did a lot of acid
That put the voices down
And one day at her birthday
They found her hanging upside down
They say she lived her life on the avenue
They say she cried from the weight of her spit
They claim they were the only ones that she ever knew
Ah, but why are they weeping now?
When she was alive they were not around
They were locked in their own abyss
We met in the gutter
We shared a smoke or two
I told about my mother
She showed me her tattoo
She went out through the city
Got lost in Fulton Town
And one day at her birthday
They found her hanging upside down
They say she live her life an American
They say she whored herself for pills
They claim they offered her their helping hand
But the talk's all the same to me
They call themselves her family
It just makes me ill
She couldn't concentrate
She was her own delusion
She was her own mistake
She did a lot of acid
That put the voices down
And one day at her birthday
They found her hanging upside down
They say she cried from the weight of her spit
They claim they were the only ones that she ever knew
Ah, but why are they weeping now?
When she was alive they were not around
They were locked in their own abyss
We shared a smoke or two
I told about my mother
She showed me her tattoo
She went out through the city
Got lost in Fulton Town
And one day at her birthday
They found her hanging upside down
They say she whored herself for pills
They claim they offered her their helping hand
But the talk's all the same to me
They call themselves her family
It just makes me ill

god i love this song...... its like after someone dies everyone all of a sudden was there best friend.
they found her upside down
This is definitely one of my favorite NMH songs. I can really relate to it... it's about a troubled girl who was trying to escape her problems through the obvious means: drugs, sex, and cigarettes. Her family doesn't pay attention to her while she's alive, other than to write off. Like so many other families, they are simply to concerned with themselves to truly reach out to the troubled girl. Finally, the girl hangs herself on her birthday. Finally, her family realizes how disturbed the girl was, but they're too late to help her.
it's creepy but beautiful
If she hung herself, why is she upside down?
If she hung herself, why is she upside down?
Jeff Mangum did alot of acid.
tastemaker - I think "Beautiful Baby", as you call it, is sung live uh, combined with a few different songs, depending on what version you're listening to. Example; Rubby Bulbs - http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=3530822107858591839 Not exactly the same, but you know what Jeffs like.
I have (whats supposed to be) a version of She Did a Lot of Acid that starts out with something mournful (could be the lyrics you mentioned, I can't find it, and don't remember) then cuts off just after the first "she did a lot of acid".
It's probably not off an album, but live.
Oh wait, look at what I found. http://www.the-collective.net/~sashwap/other.html "Unknown [Immediately proceeds Rubby Bulbs in the Aquarius show]" (etc)
...which relates to what I'm talking about, but does not neccessarily help you.
jinxedinsanity, the one you have is the only one i have been able to find on limewire. the full version can be found on the elephant six website, with the intro that he sings, and beautiful baby.
truly great song indeed...
I can't find this song anywhere.
