Since nobody has commented on this song or part of the song I'll be the first. This is a fictional song about the different parts of the brain each wanting to control the fate of man. Apollo was a greek philosipher who felt that man's best attribute was his intelligence so Apollo is a metaphor for that part of the brain or the cognitive side. Dionysis was a greek philosipher who felt that mans best attribute was love and compassion so Dionysis is a metophor for the love and emotion side of the brain. The people were confused because they were only dealing with each half at a time. There was a battle of the heart and mind and out of it came Cygnus who showed Apollo and Dionysis how to work together as a team with each having different roles and working together so that man would be complete. This song is truly amazing and the creativity of the lyrics is second to none. Rush is the best band EVER! Neil: amazing lyricist and in my opinion the best drummer ever. Geddy, awesome talent and one of the, if not best bass guitarists ever, and finally Alex who is a top 5 lead guitarist. Together they are amazing. It's a damn shame they aren't in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I truely beleive that one day they will be.
