Excommunications Lyrics

Everybody knows that you'll be leavin'
Leavin' me behind
'n everybody knows what's gonna happen
I'm gonna lose my mind

Everybody said that they saw it comin'
They knew you wouldn't stay
But i never felt sure that you'll end to go
not in any way

I just wanna talk to you a moment
What you have to say?
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
I'm better off this way

I just wanna know what you remember
Don't wanna make you stay
I just wanna give you somethin better to
remember me that way

Cover art for Excommunications lyrics by Thalia Zedek

THalia Zedek has fronted COME, UZI, and Live Skull amongst other post/punk bands over the last decades. The music was often harsh, but her voice always triumphed. Now, in her first solo release, Zedek soars. She performs two tributes to Mr. Leonard Cohen, another singer/songwriter who cannot be comfortably catagorized. In her first, EXCOMMUNICATIONS, she rewrites EVERYBODY KNOWS (a Cohen classic, check it out on this site!). She also steps in and takes up where Cohen ends in DANCE ME TO THE END OF LOVE. The musical rampage at the end of this piece is ...i have no words. Let put it this way, if Lenny Cohen is G-d, and doesn't just transcribe for it, THalia Zedek is the shejina, the female personification of The Divine.
