Down At The Khyber Lyrics
I’ve been away and I’ve been travelin’
I’ve been lost, I’ve fucked around
And like a heavy run rounder (?)
Through open fields and prairie towns
I got sick, and I got sicker
And I spent a month in bed
Until the visions came to me quicker
I saw ghosts and I saw land
I saw ghosts and I saw land
Chorus:
Am I still alive where did I collapse?
In Edmonton Alberta or home in Halifax
Float me down the river to the Musquedobit harbor
Because I’m getting nowhere
I met my love down at the Khyber
And we drifted throughout the crowd
And when I finally lay beside her
Oh you could hear my heart out loud
And when I’m gone she’ll never leave me
No no she’ll never be untrue
But if you do not believe me
You don’t believe the sky is blue
You don’t believe the sky is blue
Chorus
And if it feels just like a toss off
Perhaps it is perhaps it ain’t
Do you remember at the sock hop?
Did I dance or did I faint (4x)
I’ve been lost, I’ve fucked around
And like a heavy run rounder (?)
Through open fields and prairie towns
And I spent a month in bed
Until the visions came to me quicker
I saw ghosts and I saw land
I saw ghosts and I saw land
Am I still alive where did I collapse?
In Edmonton Alberta or home in Halifax
Float me down the river to the Musquedobit harbor
Because I’m getting nowhere
And we drifted throughout the crowd
And when I finally lay beside her
Oh you could hear my heart out loud
And when I’m gone she’ll never leave me
No no she’ll never be untrue
But if you do not believe me
You don’t believe the sky is blue
You don’t believe the sky is blue
Perhaps it is perhaps it ain’t
Do you remember at the sock hop?
Did I dance or did I faint (4x)

saw them live and what a perfomance it was! believe this was their opening song. hopefully someone will post the rest of their lyrics. good ole canadian band.
These Guys are the fucking best band in Canada. I'm in halifax so they play here quite often i love plaskeete and thrush hurmet is good too.
I always thought the line in question was "like a heavy mind unravellin' "
also I think its "I saw ghosts and I saw red"
Anywho, this song is about a girl (as it seems most songs are about) and the town where Joel resides, Halifax. The Khyber is a historic building downtown that hosts shows and Art openings. The lines "I got sick and I got sicker" refers to health problems Joel had been going through in his latter days in Thrush Hermit.
Just for accuracy's sake, the correct spelling is "Musquodoboit"
has any one acually been to the khyber? ive seen the building on barrington but ive never gone in
