Religion (white tie, black jacket, etc.) has gotten in the way of pure Christianity, and so this song says that we should dismiss the religious behavior, facing the fact that we don't need it to be Christians. It's a beautiful message to go with beautiful music.

Great lyrics to this song... A slick and polished mess. I love how the whole tone and direction of the song changes at the end. Gradually building up... Once again, Norma Jean is one of the best hard core bands around!!!

this song is porbally the most amazing thing i have ever heard, not to sound overly hardcore but i can sleep to this song its so amazing, i suggest trying to sleep to it

I guess it means that he is sick of all of the things thrown into christianity and just wants it to be like it was without corruption and man made laws.

this song doesn't necessarily have to be just about christianity. in my opinion it could just be about anyone that doesn't act like themself. people spend so much time wearing a mask to disguise their problems and troubles. i think this song is just telling people in general to go back to their old self, whether it was in God or not.

it could go to everyone who aren't themselves, but, since Josh Scogin, the person responsible for producing these lyrics, is a christian, that is probably what he was aiming at. christianity, and fellow christians are what he is familiar with.

How many people do you know where a white tie with a black jacket? This is a phenomenal song...as is most of Norma Jean's work, long or short it always has a poignant message. I used to just enjoy the melody at the end of the Bless The Martyr album, but when I properly listened to this I understood the message. Think Little Nicky..."Release the goooood!" Depending on what age I perish from the world, I want this song to be played at my funeral. It closed off my favourite album perfectly, it should close me off just as well, lol! What on Earth am I on about...?
