Simply a beautiful and brilliant song.
i think this song is about someone trying to run-away from their past/problems. it's like they've done some things in the past that they regret, whether to a lover or a friend, and they aren't sure how to confront them so instead they are thinking about just running away from their problems.
when he says, "Oh well, all my friends are different now and have no place to go. so farwell- cause here where i lay my head, confusion, quilted bed, makes it easy to say goodbye. " it seems like they are growing up, and the quilted bed is his childhood, and he's ready to move on from his past.
